About the Role:

Hawaii Accounting is seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager to join its team in Hilo. As a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for managing client relationships, delivering exceptional customer service, and ensuring timely and accurate tax returns.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Client Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their business needs and providing tailored tax solutions.
  2. Tax Preparation: Prepare and review complex tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax laws and regulations.
  3. Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior staff, providing guidance and support to ensure successful project delivery.
  4. Business Development: Identify opportunities to grow the business, developing new client relationships and expanding existing ones.
  5. Communication: Effectively communicate with clients, colleagues, and senior management, providing regular updates and progress reports.
  6. Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with changing tax laws and regulations, attending training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent experience.
  2. Experience: A minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in public accounting and/or the private sector, including at least one year of supervisory experience.
  3. Licenses: CPA or EA license enabling you to sign off on tax returns and represent clients before the IRS.
  4. Computer Skills: Advanced knowledge of tax software, including Ultra Tax, Lacerte, and Drake, as well as Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
  5. Location: This role is based in Hilo, HI, and requires a strong understanding of local tax laws and regulations.
