Job DescriptionJob DescriptionResponsibilities:Primary responsibilities are to perform structural fitting functions with following objectives:
  • Perform structural fitter assignments as assigned.
  • Work safe and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Notify foreman or supervisor of any safety and/or structural issues as warranted.

Duties:
  • Duties include, but are not limited to:
    • Lays out, positions, aligns and fits together fabricated structural steel plate according to customer specifications and direction from Foreman/Supervisor.
    • Required to move parts into position, manually, by hoist or crane, and align parts, using jacks, etc.
    • May be required to remove high spots and cut bevels, using hand files, portable grinders, and/or cutting torch, as well as give directions to the welder to build up low spots or short pieces.
    • May, at times, be required to tack weld, as necessary.
    • Consults with foreman or supervisor regarding installation or repair problems, sequence of operations, and time required to complete repair and/or installation
    • Attend safety meetings as required
    • Maintain a safe working environment
Education, Experience and Training:
  • Minimum one year experience as a structural fitter (shipyard experience)
  • Be able to perform simple paperwork as required for filling out forms and logs.

Pay: $19.50 - $21.00Must be available for day and/or night shift
