Job Overview

Position Summary

The Steel Fabrication Supervisor will oversee a team of Welders and Shipfitters in the cutting and installation of steel components. This role involves collaboration with management to ensure adequate staffing for task completion. The Supervisor will mentor, direct, and instruct all Welders and Shipfitters as necessary to achieve high-quality steel welding and fabrication within the ship repair sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise all Welders and Shipfitters to meet daily production goals
  • Organize schedules for Welders and Shipfitters
  • Communicate and coordinate with the Ship Superintendent regarding requirements, safety concerns, project timelines, and material needs
  • Prepare performance reports for direct reports
  • Assist in the recruitment of welders and fitters
  • Interpret blueprints and schematics to identify necessary steel work

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years in Ship Repair with administrative capabilities
  • At least 4 years of experience in leading Welders and/or Fitters
  • Proficient in interpreting Drawings and Prints
  • Thorough knowledge of AWS, ABS, and USCG Welding Standards
