Job Summary

Steel Foreman will lead Welders and Shipfitters in cutting and replacing steel. The Steel Foreman will coordinate with management to ensure there is enough workforce to complete each task. The Foreman will guide, lead and teach all Welders and Shipfitters as required to complete steel welding and fabrication in the ship repair industry.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

·         Lead all Welders and Shipfitters in daily production requirements

·         Schedule Welders and Shipfitter

·         Inform and coordinate with the Ship Superintendent all needs, safety hazards, schedule milestones and material needs

·         Write all direct reports

·         Assist with hiring welders and fitters

·         Read prints and drawings to determine steel work required

 

Qualifications / Experience

·         2 years experience, Ship Repair, Administrative skills

·         4 years experience, Leading Welders and/or Fitters

·         Expert in Drawing and Prints

·         Expert in AWS, ABS and USCG Welding Procedures
