A Haven is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit organization whose main purpose is to provide grief support services to families in Chester County and the surrounding area.

Child and Family Programs Coordinator - 15 hours/week, nine-month contract mid-August through May. Must have daytime and evening availability

Purpose: To lead and implement our onsite child services in line with A Havens culture and family-centered approach. The Child and Family Programs Coordinators primary responsibility is facilitating the child portion of A Havens evening family groups. This includes development of programming and collaboration with the Family Services Team. The Child and Family Coordinator will report to the Family Services Director.

Onsite Evening Child Grief Groups
  • Provide tours and assessments for prospective families
  • Facilitate onsite grief groups in collaboration with A Haven team and volunteers
  • Maintain documentation including but not limited to attendance and post-group note
  • Maintain family and volunteer communication about group schedule
  • Develop curriculum/plan for onsite groups with consideration for a range of developmental engagement
  • Lead pre/post group with volunteers
  • Maintain inventory of all group-related supplies including art/craft supplies, games, snacks, etc.
  • Collaborate with Family Services Team to assess needs of families and volunteers

Organizational Collaboration
  • Attend and participate in regular staff meetings
  • Debrief family groups at staff/intern level during normal business hours
  • Utilize intern/volunteer support when necessary or possible
  • Communicate concerns for families to Family Services Director
  • Uphold A Havens mission and values in each role
  • Assist in community outreach, organization events, and fundraising efforts
  • All other duties assigned

Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience with children of all ages in educational or clinical settings
  • Bachelors Degree or higher in Psychology/Counseling, Social Work or related field
  • Experience and knowledge of bereavement and child development
  • Passion for mission and values of A Haven
  • Strong ability to work with adults/families in crisis
  • Experience with group dynamics and facilitation
  • Ability to work independently with strong problem solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Criminal Background and Child Abuse Clearance paperwork
