Job DescriptionJob Description

This person reports directly to the Head Chef and is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the kitchen. This position is classified as Non-Exempt, part-time position. The Jewish Community Center is an EOE (equal opportunity employer).


RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Dishwashing - to ensure that the kitchen has a steady supply of clean smallwares, pots, pans.

· Duties include prioritizing loads of different types of crockery and kitchenware, hand-washing dishes, loading the dishwasher and placing dishes to dry.

· Adheres to the standard operating procedures and guidelines for cleanliness

· Staff’s kitchen during Passover and various events when needed

· Assists Chef with light prep, labeling, storing food.

· Performs other duties as assigned by chef.

· Keeps Registered Food Handler’s certificate current.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

· High School degree

· Food/restaurant/kitchen experience – 3 years min.

· Ability to lift 50 lbs. and carry items while walking.

· Ability to stand for extended periods of time.

· Demonstrates an energetic and positive attitude.

· Reliable, dependable, team player.

· Professional in appearance, manner, and tone

· Able and willing to take direction.


It is expected that the Kitchen Assistant & Dishwasher will be a team player as part of the JCC Professional Staff. He/she is expected to be aware of the JCC Mission Statement and work within the frameworks of that mission. Responsibilities of the job may be changed as the needs of the JCC and/or community change.
