At this important moment in its history, Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan is seeking an Associate Director Corporate and Individual Giving to secure funding from corporate partners, foundations, trusts, and government agencies through preparation and submission of grant proposals and sponsorship solicitations. The position is also responsible for managing elements of the grantor relationship for long-term growth, including appropriate reporting and stewardship activities.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with individuals and corporate partners.
  • Work with the Chief Philanthropy Officer to develop a strategy and grow the pipeline of individual and corporate partners capable of making midlevel and major gifts.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individuals and corporate partners to secure sponsorships, and ticket sales for fundraising events and unrestricted gifts.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Philanthropy Officer to grow annual and planned giving, through strategic direct mail appeals.
  • Lead fundraising events from conception to completion including goal setting, sponsorship packet creation, budget, timelines, volunteer recruitment and training, collateral, committee management, volunteer and staff management, logistics, fulfillment and post event stewardship.
  • Build a small portfolio of mid-level donors from key relationships.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor tracking and record keeping.
  • Assist with other fundraising projects as requested and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field is required.
  • 3 years of event management experience at a nonprofit, including demonstrated success meeting fundraising goals.
  • 3 years of experience overseeing committees or boards from recruitment through stewardship.
  • Experience securing individual gifts, sponsorships and unrestricted gifts.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Proven success in development for a mid-sized nonprofit including fundraising from multiple donor channels.
  • Experience with relational databases and web-related research tools.
  • Ability to compile, interpret and present program and financial information.
  • Planning, leading, and managing development projects, including coordinating with peers to achieve desired outcomes, and tracking and reporting on progress to senior managers/board of directors
  • Takes initiative and actively seeks to deepen current partner relationships and to forge new ones.
  • Skilled in creating powerful, compelling written and oral communications for fundraising.
  • Ability to convey complex ideas through brief, simple materials.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, organizational skills.
  • Effective at working with others to reach common goals and objectives.
  • Skilled at establishing and cultivating strong relationships with peers, across different levels of the organization and externally.
  • Annual Girl Scout membership is required.
