About CMFCAA 

The Central Missouri Foster Care & Adoption Association is a not-for-profit agency that educates, supports, and advocates for foster, adoptive, & kinship children, youth, & families in central Missouri by offering services & partnering with community & governmental agencies to develop healthy & self-sufficient individuals & families.  

Founded in 2007 by a former foster youth, foster parents, and adoptive parents, the CMFCAA is a community service organization that provides for the needs of foster, adoptive, kinship, and guardianship youth and families. What began as a small support group has grown into a multifaceted organization that provides direct support, education, services, and advocacy to foster and adoptive families in a 24-county central Missouri region.  

Currently, we are assisting over 640 foster families, over 1400 foster children, and over 400 adopted children in our service area. Our goal is to be a support to the families, children, and youth in this area, and we work tirelessly to provide much needed services to them.   

 

Position Summary  

Welcome to the position summary for the 30 Days to Family Supervisor. 30 Days to Family is a short-term intervention to expand efforts to find safe, appropriate relative support for children entering foster care. One goal of the program is to assist in meeting the 2008 Fostering Connections to Success and Increasing Adoptions Act’s 30-day standard of notifying a child’s relatives of their option to participate in care and placement of the child. The initial search is for non-offending parents and grandparents, but the goal is that at least 80 additional relatives will be identified and explored. Because foster care placements can be fragile, the goal is to identify multiple relatives or kin as potential placement providers. Maternal and paternal relatives are explored with equal interest. In all cases, every effort is made to keep siblings together, maintain children in their school of origin, and preserve the child’s important relationships with friends and supportive adults. Once the placement provider is identified, family support interventions provided include, assessment of child and family needs, identification of family and community resources, assistance in eliminating barriers to placement with relatives, and creating a network of support services that are documented in a Roadmap to Family.  

The 30 Days to Family Supervisor will develop and implement key policies and procedures for successful replication of the 30 Days to Family Program. In addition to overseeing the program, the 30 Days to Family Supervisor will directly supervise all 30 Days to Family Specialists.  

 

Essential Functions/Job Expectations 

 

  • Provide direct supervision to 30 Days to Family Specialists, including daily communications with each 30 Days to Family Specialist. 
  • Facilitate communication with referral agencies and court personnel to ensure effective service delivery.  
  • Manage the intake and referral process for prospective 30 Days to Family clients. 
  • Manage all data for the program, including tracking of all cases served, and submitting monthly and quarterly reports.  
  • Provide training and updated information to partner agencies on the Fostering Connections to Success Act (2008), applicable state and local statues, and local child welfare policy. 
  • Accompany 30 Days to Family Specialist to initial meetings and hearings.  
  • Assist the 30 Days to Family Specialist with conducting the family finding search process, engagement of relatives, identifying family supports, overcoming barriers, and preparing the family for placement.  

 

The following functions apply to the 30 Days to Family Specialist position and must be accomplished by the Supervisor as needed. 

  • Assist the case manager and court officials with meeting the Fostering Connections to Success Act, applicable local statutes, and agency policy regarding relative/kin notification and placement. 
  • Assist in collecting information from relatives/kin to expand the child’s support system and family connections, while identifying potential relative home providers. 
  • Identify and document at least 80 relatives/kin for each child through Family Finding search activities, including: internet & database searches, SACWIS electronic records, Juvenile/Family Court case file reviews and child & family interviews. 
  • Facilitate communication with the team and provide the referring agencies with accurate family contact information, and identified family supports. 
  • Participate in court hearings, external and internal meetings, and individual professional consultations. 
  • Complete assessments on the child and family functioning to measure the success and outcomes of the program. 
  • Assist in preparing the family for placement approval by explaining the approval process and assisting with home requirements.

Qualifications/Credentials 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Social Service or Related field. 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the child welfare field, including supervisory. 
  • Demonstrated experience working with interdisciplinary teams utilizing innovative strategies to overcome obstacles.  
  • Direct experience in the child welfare field with an in-depth knowledge of the family court process, foster care, and relative home placement and approval.  
  • Experience in resource parent training and licensing preferred.  
  • Valid driver’s license is required. 
  • Background checks are required.
