MRI, a woman-owned Technologies and Engineering Services company, has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer - Mars Architecture Team Concept Study on the JETS II Contract at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. We are excited about what we do, and we need you on our team as we take on exciting challenges for NASA's pursuits in deep space exploration.

As Senior Systems Engineer - Mars Architecture Team Concept Study you will:

  • Develop concepts and define future human space exploration vehicles and missions
  • Mars surface exploration campaigns and future long term Mars surface missions will also be studied and developed
  • Develop and evolve conceptual vehicles by working with multi discipline teams in a highly collaborative environment
  • Work on architecture definitions and functional flows - Work on requirements definition, flow-down, assessment
  • Work on trade studies and stakeholder reviews - Summarize architecture study/trade study outcomes and present recommendations to NASA leadership
  • Work in a team environment and report to the team lead to provide status on progress and issues and for support
  • Maintain a professional relationship with the NASA customer and other NASA support contractors
  • Perform other duties as required

Here's What You'll Need:

Requisition Qualifications & Preferences:

  • BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years' relevant engineering experience
  • Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures

Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency may be a requirement for this position.

Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which this position has been advertised.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

Other Essential Functions

Professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.


As we are a Federal Contractor, most positions require the employee to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government background investigation. MRI also completes a pre-screening background check for anyone offered employment.
