Payroll Specialist (level I)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Process and reconciles multistate payroll on a semi-monthly basis, including withholdings and check requisitions for payroll for Community/ Field employees.
  • Calculate and verify timecards have been approved without missed punches.
  • Ensure that bonuses, commissions, and deductions are processed with accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records and ensure all necessary documentation is complete.
  • Prepare and distribute paychecks, direct deposits, and payroll reports.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters and resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
  • Assist in preparing and filing payroll tax returns and year-end documents.
  • Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate employee data and benefit deductions.
  • Knowledge of, and ability to research individual state payroll laws.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports and analysis related to payroll as requested.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Related field experience or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in payroll processing and administration.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field experience (preferred).
