Role: Filemaker Database Support Specialist

Location: Montpelier, VT

Duration: 6 Months.

Job Description:

The Filemaker Database Support Specialist will be responsible for providing technical maintenance, support, and enhancements to the existing Filemaker database system for the Agency of Education's program. This role involves troubleshooting, addressing system issues, and implementing updates and fixes to ensure smooth operation across various school district servers.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance the existing Filemaker databases used across school district servers and project laptops.
  • Conduct detailed system analysis, design solutions for system improvement, and ensure client-service architecture is functioning effectively.
  • Collaborate with school districts to ensure that databases are updated in compliance with state and federal reporting requirements.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical and user documentation for the database system, ensuring ease of use and future scalability.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements in the Filemaker application architecture to meet future demands.
  • Provide technical support and training to local staff managing the database at each site.
  • Act as a liaison between the Agency of Education and other technical staff or stakeholders when addressing complex database challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with all confidentiality and security protocols when handling state and federal data.
  • Participate in oral presentations and vendor discussions as part of the State's selection process.

Required Skills:

  • Expert knowledge of Filemaker systems analysis, system design, data base, and

client service architecture.

  • Ability to evaluate applications in terms of database and application architecture,

future demands, and reporting needs.

  • Ability to create systematic and consistent documentation in both technical and

User-friendly language.

  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with other technical staff when necessary
