Responsibilities
The Billing and Authorization Specialist is responsible for submitting all claims to Medicaid and private insurances and maintaining all service authorizations to all contracted Medicaid and private insurance companies as required. This position is also responsible for billing reconciliation upkeep of all billing and authorization records.
Qualifications
- Is 18 years of age or older with the ability to read, write and understand how to follow instructions AND
- Has no violent criminal record or substantiated findings of abuse or neglect listed on the North Carolina
Health Care Personnel Registry High School Diploma or equivalent AND
-Minimum of one year experience in a medical office billing AND
-High school diploma or GED required, bachelor degree preferred AND
-Operate a variety of office equipment, including fax machines, photocopiers, scanners, videoconferencing and multi line telephone systems. Create spreadsheets, compose correspondence, manage databases, and develop presentations, write reports, using desktop publishing Microsoft office software and digital graphics. AND
- Demonstrate strong data entry skills, Good time management skills, Excellent verbal and written communication skills, Advanced organization skills, Attention to detail to ensure accuracy, Familiarity with medical billing, Basic computer skills to scan, organize and access electronic health records
Responsibilities
· Ensure client demographics and insurance information is accurate and up to date.
· Electronically submit authorizations to insurance companies, keep current on all client
authorizations.
· Obtain paperwork from appropriate staff in order to submit for authorizations.
· Maintain Insurance and Claims files.
· Maintain client confidentiality per HIPAA privacy rule regulations.
· Communicate issues, info and support needs to Operations Manager.
· Provide support to clients regarding insurance and authorization issues.
· Electronically submit claims to insurance companies, keep current on all claims.
· Investigate, resubmit and appeal any denial claims and authorizations.
· Provide requested reports to support billing to OM, payroll, CEO, accountant, etc.
· Participates in team meetings.
· Other tasks as needed given by CEO and Operations Manager.
