Corvid Technologies is seeking a skilled Radar Systems Engineer/Technician to join our team in Portland, OR. In this position, you will have the opportunity to work on the team responsible for deploying, maintaining, troubleshooting, and integrating radar system upgrades to support our Missile Defense Agency (MDA) customer, with at-sea deployments totaling up to 3 - 4 months each year.

Specific Duties

  • Operations and maintenance of RADAR systems to include working on high voltage transmitters, receivers, modulators, timing and control systems, cabling and the associated interconnects
  • Utilizing test equipment (Oscilloscopes, Analyzers) for testing and troubleshooting system issues
  • Applying comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturer’s manuals, schematics, problem reports, test results and other documents
  • System administrator responsibilities with working knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux and the ability to backup / restore and update the many Linux servers that make up the real-time radar control system
  • Working with customer to develop data collection requirements for test events
  • Developing system documentation to include but not limited to standard operating procedures, work instructions, network drawings, rack elevations, upgrade proposals, change requests, etc.
  • Lead ongoing operations and sustainment activities of various range instrumentation systems to comply with Cyber Security requirements
  • Regularly report status of system and projects to management and customers
  • Flexibility in working periods of varying lengths for mission support and adjusting to changing requirements, schedules and priorities
  • Reporting to workstation onboard the ship (both in port and at sea)
  • Sailing with the Pacific Tracker any time it leaves Portland, OR. (Mission schedules vary, and could require upwards of four deployments in a year, each lasting approximately four weeks)

You would be a great fit if...

  • You have a BS degree in an Engineering or other Scientific field, and a minimum of 2+ years of general related work experience with RADAR systems; an AS degree and 5+ years; without a degree, 7+ years of related experience is required
  • You have a Security+ certification or higher; or complete within 90 days of hire
  • You have a Linux, Windows, or Cisco certification; or complete within 90 days of hire
  • You have experience with Linux and Windows systems administration
  • You are a US citizen with an active DOD Security clearance at the level of SECRET or higher (and can maintain while employed); NON-US Citizens cannot be considered
  • You are familiar working with schematic drawings, specifications and vendor technical documentation related to electromechanical systems
  • You are capable of working at heights of 50ft. to perform maintenance on the antenna as needed
  • You are capable of lifting up to 50lbs during inventory, repairs, maintenance, and other efforts
  • Have worked on a sea faring vessel and do not get or know how to avoid motion-sickness
  • You possess knowledge and experience with the following Systems you will use to support XTR:
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
    • RADAR tracking and calibration
    • RF measurements using conventional power meters and sensors
    • Antenna servo systems
    • Waveguide and dry air systems
    • High voltage transmitter equipment (45,000VDC)
    • Rockwell Automated Software and Allen Bradley PLC systems
    • Chilled water systems, including pumps, tanks, filters, flow, and pressure meters
    • Weather systems including balloon launching and radiosondes
