Position Summary: As the Manager of Government Affairs, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to engage with government officials, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to advance Arcadium Lithium's interests and objectives. You will monitor legislative and regulatory developments at the local, state, and federal levels, and assess their potential impact on the company. Additionally, you will collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute Arcadium Lithium’s public affairs strategy in Quebec and Canada to align with business objectives, including advancing legislative and regulatory priorities at local, provincial, and federal levels.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with partner organizations to optimize Arcadium Lithium’s legislative and regulatory effectiveness.
- Formulate and communicate policy positions in collaboration with the Communications team, ensuring alignment with Arcadium Lithium’s business strategy.
- Monitor and analyze federal, provincial, and municipal legislation, with a focus on impacts to Arcadium Lithium’s operations in Quebec and in Canada, recommending strategic positions as needed.
- Engage with lawmakers and policymakers to shape legislation and policy initiatives beneficial to Arcadium Lithium, identifying opportunities to secure funding for R&D and market segment objectives.
- Serve as Arcadium Lithium’s subject-matter expert, representing the company in meetings with regulators, legislators, and industry associations.
- Advocate for programs and regulations supporting Arcadium Lithium’s business objectives and sustainable lithium production globally.
- Provide strategic input on business initiatives with public policy implications and manage related communications to government entities.
- Recommend political giving aligned with Arcadium Lithium’s objectives and represent the company at relevant events to promote its public policy positions.
- Establish and manage industry coalition partnerships, responding to legislative and regulatory actions.
- Oversee a modest Global presence to advance Arcadium Lithium’s business objectives in these regions.
- Manage relationships with external consultants.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, law, Government Relations, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in government affairs, public policy, or related roles, preferably in Quebec and/or Canada.
- Fluent in French
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with multi-functional and a diverse group of individuals at all levels of the organization, including Executive Management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Strong understanding of Canadian legislative and regulatory processes.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with government officials, stakeholders, and industry partners.
- Excellent communication skills and strategic thinking ability.
- Prior chemical manufacturing industry experience or mining is a plus (lithium industry experience preferred but not required)
- Demonstrated history of influencing policy decisions and legislation through strategic relationship building and skilled advocacy required.
