General Description/Purpose

The Regional Director of Safety is responsible for partnering with leaders and employees to build a safe work environment, ensuring everyone complies with health and safety laws, maintains policies and coaches employees for policy understanding, and relentlessly seeks to discover opportunities for improving conditions and executing various safety programs. Reports to the VP of Operations.

Essential Job Functions

  • Partners with stakeholders to execute health and safety plans according to legal guidelines.
  • Creates a health and safety culture by supporting and enforcing policies
  • Evaluates practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law
  • Conducts training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention.  Tracks employee training completion and maintains accurate records.
  • Monitors compliance to policies and laws by inspecting and observing work performed by employees
  • Inspects equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions.  Take immediate action to resolve any identified safety risks.
  • Promptly investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes.  Partner with HR Department  to accurately and timely submit worker’s compensation claims.
  • Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures.
  • Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics.
  • Fulfills other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Safety Director in a construction and manufacturing environment.
  • Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines, specifically in the construction and/or manufacturing industry.
  • Must possess leadership qualities with extremely proficient influence and communication skills.
  • Fluent in both English and Spanish, both written and verbal preferred
  • Ability to work well on a team; contribute and participate in a highly collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to produce reports and develop relevant policies
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
  • Excellent organizational and motivational skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
  • BSc/BA in safety management or relevant field is preferred
  • Valid qualification in occupational health and safety
  • OSHA 500/510 Certifications
  • First Aid Certification
