The Position

Rêve Preparatory Charter School is seeking an engaging Food Service Attendant for the upcoming 22-2023 school year. 

The Operations team works to ensure the many aspects of running a school are in place, so our students have an engaging environment to learn in, parents/guardians feel welcomed at all times and the instructional team has the resources they need to get their work done.

We are looking for a Food Service Attendant to prepare, produce, heat, cook, and serve a variety of foods from fresh, canned, dry, or frozen states according to recipes, and assist in other related tasks in a designated food service production and/or service area. The Food Service Attendant will perform cleaning and sanitizing duties according to Texas food Services Standard Operating Procedures. The Food Service Attendant will report to the Dean of Operations. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing and producing a variety of foods
  • Setting up and merchandising food and food service areas, and serving food
  • Operating kitchen equipment and utilizing kitchenware
  • Practicing safe food handling procedures
  • Prepare or assists in preparation of main dishes, vegetables, salads, based items, sandwiches and other foods and beverages served in the cafeteria
  • Operate stoves, ovens, steam kettles, dishwasher, slicer, mixer and other kitchen equipment
  • Set up hot and cold food counters for serving; properly stocks counters and carts with food, plates, utensils and condiments; serves food and beverages to students and faculty
  • Wash dishes, pots, pans, and other utensils; cleans kitchen equipment, work areas and dining room tables
  • Assist  in receiving and unpacking supplies and placing them on shelves or in freezer
  • Comply with provisions of Policy and Procedures Manual
  • Can safely lift up to 50 pounds
  • Other duties as assigned

Background and Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); AAS degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of kitchen prep experience 
  • Innovative, creative, and willing to take risks
  • Ability to take initiative, highly organized and efficient, self-motivated
  • Strong communicator and relationship builder with adults, including peers and families
  • Experience with and/or understanding of life experiences in underserved communities
  • Accuracy, attention to detail and follow through on all activities
  • Demonstrated analytical and strategic thinking capabilities
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team, including families, instructional staff, support staff, and outside groups
  • A team player willing to do whatever it takes to keep our school running smoothly
  • Must be able to provide required City of Houston Food Manager Certificate or you must pass the certification test to acquire a certificate
