Senior Accountant

Location: Middletown, CT

About the Organization & Opportunity:

  • The Senior Accountant will sit on a team of 4, and report to the Accounting Manager

Position Overview of the Senior Accountant:

  • Our client is seeking assistance due to the current workload

Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant:

  • AP – full cycle ap, once/month check run (currently low volume), including 1099’s and other year-end paperwork to generate appropriate year-end tax documents. FYE is 9/30.
  • General Ledger - reconciliations of various control accounts, bookkeeping for 2 small non-profits that the organization handles -- will prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for the 2 smaller entities. The controller would review the top-level reports. But this person would own the work for these 2 small nonprofits. One has a 990 filing requirement and its board insists on a little more robust financial modeling.
  • Audit prep– will reconcile balance sheet accounts, prep audit work papers, etc. Should know how to prepare a balance sheet and roll it forward to another date.

Preferred Qualifications of the Senior Accountant:

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred, otherwise 5+ years accounting experience
  • Strong Excel skills – pivot tables, v look ups, etc is preferred
  • Previous audit experience is a plus but not required

  • Excellent communication skills – via email and phone: The Senior Accountant will be collaborating with other departments to get things done
