Job Summary and Qualifications

The Trauma PI Coordinator performs retrospective and concurrent reviews of patient care records and assesses for specified filters and opportunities for improvement. A thorough written presentation is developed to facilitate a formal review by TMD, TPD, Trauma M&M, and Trauma Peer Review Committees when indicated. The Trauma PI Coordinator then facilitates, and implements formal/informal action plans to address any outstanding issues/concerns. The individual attends Trauma Sign out Rounds as well as daily Multidisciplinary Trauma Rounds. This position reports to the Director of Trauma and Burn Services.

What you will do in this role:

  • Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety Plan.
  • Maintain the Trauma PI database to ensure adequate documentation as required by regulatory agencies.
  • Complete concurrent review of cases to identify quality, timelines and systems of care to meet state standards.
  • Participate in hospital education programs for nurses and resident physicians caring for trauma patients.
  • Serve as a liaison to the clinical areas responsible for trauma patients.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary monthly Trauma Systems & Operations Committee and Peer Review meetings.

What qualifications you will need:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years nursing experience required
  • 3 years recent experience in Trauma nursing preferred.
  • Quality/Performance Improvement preferred.
  • Current Florida license as Registered Nurse or Recognized Compact Licensure (subject to Florida State Licensing Requirements, including/not limited to ongoing eligibility and duration provisions) 
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Masters Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification 
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification 
  • TNCC and/or TCAR required
