Responsible for preparing the sterile field for surgical operations including the setup of sterile instruments, assisting surgeons in gowning and gloving, and draping patients for surgery. Directly supports the surgical team during operations by passing instruments and supplies, holding retractors, and anticipating surgeons' needs during course of surgery. Supports the functionality of the department by distributing supplies and performing equipment maintenance, testing, and setup as needed. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety to help deliver optimal patient care. May also be responsible for performing specific procedures and/or may help orient other staff to the department.Day Shift, Variable Start time, Monday-Friday
Job Description:
EDUCATION
- Graduate of a Surgical Technician Program or equivalent education, experience, or training.
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE
- CST-Certified Surgical Technologist preferred
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 6 months current experience in a multispecialty inpatient or outpatient surgery department. Internship experience recognized as experience.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Basic knowledge of anatomy.
- Knowledge of sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques.
- Knowledge of maintenance and care of equipment and instrumentation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safety precautions and emergency procedures.
- Thorough understanding of surgical/endoscopy procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
- Ability to perform duties effectively under stressful conditions.

Pay Range is $38.07 to $46.42 / hourThe salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
