This role will be based out of Lincoln, AL or Alpharetta, GA.

Job Purpose

Corporate Affairs is at the forefront of managing critical relationships with key stakeholders, including engagement with policymakers, community leaders, non-profits, workforce partners, and DEI collaborators. It is responsible for implementing government relations strategies and leading corporate communications to increase internal awareness of Honda’s business direction and enhance Honda’s reputation. 

This role is responsible for managing a regional unit within the Regional Corporate Affairs Department. The position will lead a team of local corporate affairs, community relations, and engagement specialists within the Midwest region. This role will play a pivotal role in managing relationships with local community stakeholders and Honda site leaders, ensuring effective communication within our local sites and representing Honda at the local level. This leader will ensure our local initiatives align seamlessly with the national Corporate Affairs strategy and Honda. This role will serve as a key conduit that bridges local execution and broader Regional Corporate Affairs goals.

This position will be responsible for a team of 7 associates located across the Southern region, which includes Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.

Key Accountabilities

Management of Southern Region Unit

  • Manage and oversee day-to-day Regional Corporate Affairs Unit across the region, including functions and staff, working closely with the Regional Corporate Affairs Department Manager, providing strategic vision, guidance and support. Unit areas include:
    • Corporate Affairs site activity (Local site-specific communications and promotions, onsite events, tours)
    • Community Relations (stakeholder management, community sensing, local brand visibility)
    • Associate Community Engagement activity (volunteer events, collection drive, community events)

 

Support local Corporate Affairs Activities and Relations

  • Promote strong external relations through:
    • Partnership building with key external stakeholders
    • Enhancing local brand visibility through strategic local investments
    • Ensuring effective external communications
    • Representing Honda’s interests and values at local events/meetings
       

Internal Reporting & Monitoring

  • Engage, collaborate and inform key internal stakeholders including:
    • Ongoing collaboration, sensing and information sharing with local site leaders
    • Collaboration and participation with other departments within Corporate Affairs (CSR, I&D, GIR, NACC) and Business Units across Honda to ensure alignment, impact and that local needs are met
    • Ensure effective communications and community engagement opportunities are provided to associates at local level
    • Using persuasive messaging with data, analysis and approaches tailored to various stakeholders
  • Participate in regional strategy development and oversee local strategy execution, including ongoing external benchmarking, results evaluation and PDCA
  • Manage Regional Corporate Affairs Unit leadership matters including budget, business plan reporting and metrics, and PDCA of initiatives, aligning Unit priorities and actions to Regional Corporate Affairs Department and Honda
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • 5-10 years of experience
  • Experience in Corporate Affairs, Community Relations, CSR or external community organizations
Workstyle
  • Schedule: Full-time; occasional evenings, weekends and holidays; Hybrid
  • Location: Must be within commutable distance to Honda facility within specified region
  • This is a salaried position 
  • Travel 20%
