Exercise Physiologist I | Exercise Oncology Service | NYC

 

Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Our Exercise Oncology Service is looking for an Exercise Physiologist I to join their testing team The Exercise Oncology Program brings together scientists, physiologists and research professionals to study the effect of physical activity on cancer treatment and prognosis. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work directly with research participants, facilitating exercise training and physiology assessment.

 

Role Overview:

  • Under the mentorship of a senior-level Exercise Physiologist Testing, assist in the administration of resting as well as exercise based assessments as required by the specific protocols (e.g., CPET, Bruce, 1RM, YMCA)
  • Assess resting and exercise vital signs and symptoms; Identification and evaluation of irregularities of heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen saturation at rest, during sub-maximal and maximal exercise
  • Administers indirect exercise tests (e.g., Cooper 12min Run Test, Leger 20m Shuttle Run), balance tests and measures of Functional Capacity (e.g., Stand-up-and-go, hand grip)
  • Accurate documentation of training sessions (e.g., compliance, adverse events, vitals) as per service and institutional standards.
  • Educate participants regarding the principles of training as it relates to aerobic, resistance, balance and flexibility.
  • Ensure that all measures, recordings, plans and communications during assessment, execution and other duties represent best practices of the standard operating procedures and ensure the overall safety of the participant

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science or a related discipline; Master's Degree preferred
  • 1+ years of experience in exercise physiology testing
  • Proven knowledge of cardiopulmonary testing tools including EKG, Blood Pressure Cuff, Exercise Ergometer, Stethoscope, Saturation Monitor, and/or metabolic measurement system
  • Microsoft Excel experience
  • Epic EMR experience is a plus

Core Skills:

  • Understanding of protocols and clinical procedures and the capacity to facilitate protocol-specific physiological testing and exercise training
  • Passion for clinical research and an understanding of its place in cancer care and treatment
  • Desire to learn and grow under mentorship of tenured research professionals

Additional Information:

  • Location(s): 330 E 66th Street & 353 E 68th St, New York, NY (hybrid flexibility)
  • Shifts: 8am - 4pm, Monday through Friday

Pay Range: $25.65-$38.42
