Job Summary:
Exercise Physiologist I | Exercise Oncology Service | NYC

We are excited to announce an opportunity within

MSK:

Our Exercise Oncology Service is seeking an Exercise Physiologist I to become a part of our assessment team. The Exercise Oncology Program integrates scientists, physiologists, and research experts to investigate the impact of physical activity on cancer treatment and outcomes.

In this position, you will engage directly with research participants, facilitating exercise training and conducting physiological evaluations.


Role Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of a senior Exercise Physiologist in Testing, assist in the execution of both resting and exercise-based evaluations as dictated by specific protocols (e.g., CPET, Bruce, 1RM, YMCA).

Monitor resting and exercise vital signs and symptoms; identify and assess irregularities in heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation at rest, during sub-maximal and maximal exertion.


Conduct indirect exercise assessments (e.g., Cooper 12min Run Test, Leger 20m Shuttle Run), balance evaluations, and measures of Functional Capacity (e.g., Stand-up-and-go, hand grip).

Maintain accurate records of training sessions (e.g., compliance, adverse events, vital signs) in accordance with service and institutional standards.

Educate participants on training principles related to aerobic, resistance, balance, and flexibility exercises.

Ensure that all measurements, documentation, plans, and communications during assessments and other responsibilities adhere to best practices and uphold the safety of participants.

Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science or a related field; Master's Degree preferred.

Minimum of 1 year of experience in exercise physiology assessments.

Demonstrated knowledge of cardiopulmonary testing equipment including EKG, Blood Pressure Cuff, Exercise Ergometer, Stethoscope, Saturation Monitor, and/or metabolic measurement systems.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Experience with Epic EMR is advantageous.

Core Competencies:
Comprehension of protocols and clinical procedures with the ability to facilitate protocol-specific physiological assessments and exercise training.

Enthusiasm for clinical research and an understanding of its significance in cancer care and treatment.

Aspirations to learn and develop under the mentorship of experienced research professionals.

Location(s): New York, NY (hybrid flexibility)

Shifts: 8am - 4pm, Monday through Friday

Compensation Range:
$25.65-$38.42
