Job Purpose: This position works closely with the Chief Financial Officer and has an emphasis on the proper recording of transactions in a complex accounting system. Performs accounting functions in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and all functions according to prescribed guidelines in a timely fashion to assure provision of quality service to Boards, management, residents and all employees. Processes biweekly payroll. Analyzes the effects of transactions upon account relationships within a complex accounting system. Considers the need for new or changed controls. Recommends improvements, adaptations, or revisions in the accounting system and procedures. Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. This position is a confidential employee and, as such, has access to and responsibility for the confidentiality of all records. These functions are performed under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer for the purpose of providing reliable, relevant, and timely financial reports.

Essential Job Duties:

40% Payroll

1. Processes biweekly payroll in accordance with payroll system, legal requirements, and Attic Angel Community policies and internal controls. Ensures completion of payroll tasks, as well as other government reports as necessary. Works with various departments supervisors on any incomplete timesheets and exceptions.

2. Initiate diverse reports compiling detailed ad hoc reporting as required by business units. This includes, but is not limited to, PPD and Overtime reports.

3. Work as subject matter professional on issues relating to payroll, payroll software and timekeeping/time clock. Acts as reference point for all employee payroll questions and concerns; follow up as appropriate with applicable manager(s). Takes the lead on keeping up to date with payroll software changes and payroll tax law changes.

4. Coordinates with HR personnel and understands how HRIS information interacts with payroll to ensure accuracy in all aspects affecting employee pay statements and reporting

40% Monthly Accounting

1. Responsible for preparation of monthly financial statements for all corporations of Attic Angel Community and AAMS clients in accordance with GAAP, organizational policies, and internal controls, and according to organizational timelines.

2. Makes determinations on, and prepares standard, nonstandard, and complex journal entries to ensure accuracy of financial statements for all corporations of Attic Angel Community and AAMS clients in accordance with organizational policies and internal controls.

3. Prepares and submits monthly sales tax report(s) and payment(s) to Wisconsin and other states as applicable.

4. Research and resolve account reconciling items and follow up with appropriate corrections and/or nonstandard journal entries. Works directly with managers on corrections and re-classing items as appropriate.

5. Records bank deposit information for Attic Angel Community and AAMS client entities into accounting software as part of internal control process.

5% Budget

1. Works with Chief Financial Officer and other managers in budget preparation.

20% Other Duties

1 Provides back-up to other Finance personnel including but not limited to, the Accounting Specialist A/R, Account Specialist A/P and Chief Financial Officer positions as appropriate.

2. Works closely with the outside auditors and prepares workpapers for the financial and workers compensation audits.

3. Assists in and performs other similar duties, as needed

Education: Associates degree in accounting or related business degree. 3 years accounting experience

Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:

1. Strong skills in analytical functions, problem solving, and teamwork. Make recommendations for improvements.

2. Ability to read, write, and speak the English language, and to follow oral and written instructions.

3. Good understanding of the elements of accounting practices and GAAP.

4. Independent worker who emphasizes accuracy and timeliness.

5. Operating knowledge of personal computers, word processing and spreadsheet applications.

6. Ability to organize and perform tasks efficiently, under pressure, and despite interruptions.

7. Trustworthy and dependable, with willingness to accept suggestions and ability to cooperate.

8. Capability of a flexible work schedule to accommodate duties.
