Summary

Responsible for scheduling overall Production Operations supporting commitments and forecasts for various product lines, both NPD and mature products from RO to delivery. The position will require interface with both internal and external customers. The Master Production Scheduler will also be responsible for continuous improvement activities and processes related to production scheduling.

  • Production Planning: Develop, maintain, analyze, and coordinate the master production schedule for facility production.
  • Master Production Schedule (MPS): Responsible for reviewing requirements for the production's master schedule (12 weeks out) and reviewing the current forecast for corresponding items.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain and execute the master production schedule to meet customer expectations and performance goals.
  • Supply Chain Coordination: Ensure alignment between customer's forecast/sales orders and the master schedule.
  • Resource Allocation: Coordinate with various departments to facilitate on-time production and deliveries.
  • Capacity Planning: Coordinate any changes to the schedule with production staff and/or relevant stakeholders.
  • Lean Manufacturing: In coordination with S&OP, analyze capacity needs to develop realistic manufacturing schedules and project future capacity constraints.
  • Process Optimization: Continuously update the project schedule based on changes in the master production schedule, engineering activities, and material updates.
  • Manufacturing Operations: Gather daily progress information and compile reports concerning the status of work and downtime due to failures of machines and equipment to apprise project management personnel of production delays.
  • Production Scheduling: Work with the production staff to expedite operations that may delay projects or alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Operations Planning: In coordination with S&OP, ensure the factory is level-loaded based on the forecasted workload.
  • ERP Systems: In coordination with S&OP, ensure the maximization of resources for the production facility capacity, materials, and labor.
  • Production Control: Ensure that master schedule reporting is on time and accurate.
  • Monitoring and Adjusting: Monitor schedule adherence and weekly shipments as well as production efficiency, analyzing standard hours vs. actual hours expended.
  • Supply Chain Management: Obtain information from planning regarding shortages in existing backlogs and advise management when on-time order delivery is in jeopardy.
  • Reporting: Evaluate the impact of what-if scenarios on manufacturing performance.
  • Data Management: Input data into various systems and create/prepare reports for production planning or customer meetings.
  • Operational Excellence: Drive operational excellence and provide Supply Chain expertise to other functional areas.
  • Organization and Time Management: Must be organized and possess time management skills and be able to adapt to priority changes.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Regularly provide master schedule updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Backlog Management: Review shortages in existing backlogs and advise management when on-time order delivery is in jeopardy.
  • Daily Coordination: Work with the Production Supervisor on a daily basis to monitor status and scheduling to obtain on-time delivery of products.
  • Schedule Adjustments: Coordinate any changes to schedules with production.
  • Development Planning: Work with the Development Planning group to support any required actions related to new Engineering Drawings or any Design Changes.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and support planners in any inquiry.
  • Leadership and Business Acumen: Demonstrate leadership and business acumen in actions.

Job Requirements

EducationBachelor's degree

Experience5 years of experience in production planning in an aerospace, automotive, or mechanical manufacturing environment with the ability to lead and influence others.

Other Skills

  • Knowledge of Production Planning and Production Scheduling best practices and principles is required.
  • Strong written and verbal business communications abilities; must be comfortable delivering information to all levels of the organization including senior leadership.
  • Proven ability to generate complex Integrated Master Schedules in a formal reporting environment using MS Excel or MS Project and other elements of the MS Office suite.
  • Familiarity with a Phase Gated Project Lifecycle review process.
  • Understands the fundamentals of Project Management.
  • Self-starter with the ability to drive improvement, meet timeliness, and objectives.

Additional Preferred Skills (not required):

  • Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field.
  • APICS Certification.
  • Six Sigma green or black belt.
  • 8 or more years of experience in production planning in an aerospace, automotive, or mechanical manufacturing environment with the ability to lead and influence others.
  • Previous program or project management experience.
  • Previous supply chain experience.
