Sage is based out of Chicago, but has a nationwide team.

Opportunity Summary

This Associate's core function will be research, analysis, and report writing. They will be trained and given the chance to apply advanced business research techniques for assessing the viability and profitability of proposed outdoor hospitality projects across the United States. If this person demonstrates strong aptitude, they will have the opportunity to perform advanced business writing and financial analysis and grow quickly through the company.

This position is fully remote and only requires a laptop and Microsoft Office. This person will have frequent interactions with their nationwide team, but since it is a remote role, it is important to be a strong independent worker and self-motivated. There could be opportunity for client project site visits, approximately 5-10 annually once the associate has a year+ experience and has been trained.

Research Includes

  • Demand Factors: Population access, market profile, customer profile, tourism patterns, attractions and seasonality
  • Supply Factors: In depth analysis of local and regional competitors and market maturation
  • Research will often include calling local business, governing bodies, tourism groups, suppliers, etc.
  • Strong writing, math and finance skills needed
  • Entry level finance responsibilities include researching rates (ADR), occupancy, and revenue for hospitality projections
  • Mid level finance responsibilities include projecting operating expenses
  • High level finance responsibilities include debt financing, internal rate of return (IRR), debt coverage ratio (DCR) and feasibility analysis. There will be opportunity for training and shadowing of these concepts.

Additional Advanced Responsibilities

  • Supervised business writing and strategic market assessments
  • Supervised financial assessments and projections including: rates, occupancy, revenue, operating expenses, construction development costs, equity rates of return, debt coverage and business valuations
  • Helping with inbound client sales call, project kick off calls, mid project, or post project client calls.
  • Working with industry data

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Masters Degree Achieved- preferably related to business research, business writing, real estate or finance
  • Ideally 1-2 years of experience working with similar research, report writing or financial projections and analysis

Expected Compensations Plan:

  • Months 1-3: Trainee - Pay $12 p.hr

    (~$25K annual income)

  • Months 4-6: Junior Associate $15 p.hr

    (~$30K annual income)

  • Months 6-12: Associate - $20 p.hr + some commissions (~$45K annual income)
  • Years 1-3 Senior Associate - $40 p.hr + commissions (~$100K annual income)
  • Years 3-5: Associate Director - $50 p.hr +

    significant commissions

    (~$150K annual income)

These timelines and rates can increase or decrease depending starting experience level and performance.
