The Community Outreach Program Manager is responsible for program management and administrative support and is accountable for performance against strategy/goals for the assigned area within Houston Methodist's Community Development and/or Community Benefits division. This externally-facing role manages relationships internally with hospital leadership and externally with clients, partners and vendors. The Program Manager works independently to proactively identify problems and creative solutions to address requirements

PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Coordinates the daily operations for activities related to community outreach with focus on maintenance of strategic partnerships between Houston Methodist and key stakeholders.
  • Works cross departmentally to achieve innovative and actionable outcomes while individually fostering relationships among both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Leads communication with authority to individuals and groups in a manner that engages and helps them understand and retain information.

SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Autonomously leads development and implementation of departmental plans, campaigns/activations, events and/or initiatives as they relate to outreach programs; develops and manages recurring reports on program performance.
  • Consults, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, peers, managers, and other stakeholders to improve effectiveness and efficiency of programs.
  • Develops, maintains and promotes positive and professional relationships with internal staff, volunteers, clients, vendors/contractors, and the general public

QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Provides support in planning and organizing cross-functional unit and cross-entity activities and committees. Drives strategy and ensures the success of programs and/or assigned sponsorships/events.
  • Researches and analyzes various types of data and compiles high quality reports, proposals, presentations, and other documents for senior management and customers is required. Develops effective business cases and presents to leadership, clients and stakeholders in order to influence and facilitate strategic change (as appropriate).
  • Manages relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors as needed; Monitors and evaluates program outcomes and metrics and creates departmental reports.

FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Identifies and implements processes and/or campaigns/programs/sponsorships to improve efficiency and reduce expenses that do not compromise quality or service.
  • Provides timely submission of invoices; tracks and adheres to budgetary objectives for assigned projects.
  • Monitors the success of community outreach and/or engagement strategies and budget, and makes course corrections as necessary.

GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Serves as part of a cross-departmental team that creates and executes mission driven events.
  • Proactively and independently problem solves when challenges present themselves.
  • Helps to lead the development of outreach and communications strategies and plans, including assessing needs and opportunities and developing strategies and implementation plans relating to all external outreach, marketing, and communications within scope of role.

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Communications, Healthcare Administration or related field required.

WORK EXPERIENCE
  • 7 years experience related to business or healthcare administration or experience working in a nonprofit setting
