Overview:

The Peace Economy Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for peace, economic justice, and reallocating resources from military spending to social and environmental needs, is seeking passionate and motivated Community Outreach Volunteers. As a volunteer, you will play a crucial role in raising awareness about our mission and engaging the community in our efforts to promote a more equitable and peaceful world.

Responsibilities:
  • Community Engagement: Actively engage with community members, local organizations, and groups to promote the Peace Economy Project's mission and activities. This may include attending community events, setting up information booths, and participating in local meetings.
  • Event Coordination: Assist in organizing and hosting community events such as workshops, forums, and presentations to educate and mobilize the community around issues of peace and economic justice.
  • Partnership Development: Help identify and establish partnerships with other community organizations, schools, and groups to collaborate on events or campaigns aligned with our mission.
  • Advocacy and Campaign Support: Support the organization's advocacy efforts by mobilizing community members to participate in campaigns, petitions, and calls to action.
  • Feedback Collection: Gather feedback and insights from community interactions to inform and improve the organization's outreach strategies and activities.
  • Volunteer Recruitment: Assist in recruiting more volunteers for the Peace Economy Project by sharing the impact and importance of our work within the community.
Qualifications:
  • A strong commitment to and passion for the mission of the Peace Economy Project.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of individuals and groups.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and events simultaneously.
  • Previous experience in community outreach, advocacy, or related field is a plus but not required.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new situations and challenges.
Time Commitment:

This is a flexible volunteer position, with the expectation of approximately 5-10 hours per week, depending on current projects and events. Some weekend or evening hours may be required for community events and meetings.

Location:

This position may involve both remote work and in-person activities within the community. Volunteers should be based in or near the area where the Peace Economy Project operates or is looking to expand its community presence.
