Remote Colorado, United States H&R Block Full time

Job Description:

H&R Block Financial Services Lending Team is dedicated to developing credit products that meet our customers’ needs and drive our business success. Our Emerald Advance Loan and Refund Advance products provide customers with access to funds ahead of the tax season each year.

H&R Block is not your typical Fintech. With a rich history and a brand built on assisting people with their finances during tax season, we are also a neo-Bank with a growing customer base enjoying our digitally enabled deposit offerings and debit card products.

We are seeking a Program Manager in Financial Services with a focus on Data Science and Credit Risk Modeling. This role will drive the development and management of our credit risk modeling efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data science, machine learning, and a deep understanding of lending customer analytics. You will collaborate with a team of business analysts, engineers, and designers to bring our products to market and enhance the customer journey. This role reports to the Financial Services Director of Credit and offers exposure to a range of business and functional leaders.

Day to day, you'll..

  • Develop and implement advanced statistical and machine learning models to accurately forecast customer behaviors and optimize credit product usage.
  • Conduct comprehensive analyses on large and complex data sets using tools such as SQL, Python, and Spark, transforming data into actionable insights that drive business decisions.
  • Create robust experimentation frameworks, define clear evaluation metrics, and design and execute experiments to validate hypotheses and inform strategic initiatives.
  • Lead end-to-end modeling projects, setting clear expectations and timelines.
  • Collaborate effectively with business analysts, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure data-driven decision-making and successful project outcomes.
About H&R Block...

H&R Block’s purpose is simple: To provide help and inspire confidence in our clients and communities everywhere. We’ve been true to that purpose since brothers Henry and Richard Bloch founded our company in 1955. Since then, we’ve grown to have approximately 12,000 offices throughout the United States and around the world.

We are a people company first and a tax company second. People who join H&R Block say it feels like being part of something bigger. A place with an amazing and storied history, but with a strong and urgent focus on the future. Maybe it’s how determined, forward thinking and innovative we are, or how accessible our leadership is. We believe it’s all those things, and much more.

H&R Block is committed to diversity and inclusion and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We consider qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, creed, gender, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, sex, gender expression or identity, sexual orientation, citizenship, or any other legally protected class. All qualified applicants are welcomed and encouraged to apply.

What you'll bring to the team...

  • Proficient in any of the following applied analytical techniques - clustering, regression analysis, time series analysis, NLP, neural networks, KNN, association rules, decision trees, logistic regression or similar.
  • Financial services and model governance experience

  • Proficiency in SQL and Python
  • Positive and flexible attitude to enable adjusting to different needs in an ever-changing environment
