The hours for these positions are 6am to 2:30pm and include working weekends and holidays. Flexibility is important as there may be times when you might be required to work 11am to 7:30pm to accommodate the needs of the facility.

Any person who has had a charge of abuse, neglect or exploitation substantiated against him or her is not eligible under the Vermont Veterans' Home licensing requirements. Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position, including Vermont and national criminal record checks, adult and child abuse registry checks, the Office of Inspector General exclusion database, and motor vehicle driving record checks where applicable. Class DefinitionRoutine manual work involving custodial, housekeeping, and laundry duties at the Vermont Veterans' Home, including on the secure, certified dementia unit.Work assignments are received in the form of oral or written instructions and are subject to inspection while in progress or upon completion. Work is performed under the supervision of a Custodial or Administrative supervisor.Environmental FactorsDuties are performed during an assigned shift at the Vermont Veterans' Home. Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. Good physical condition required. Considerable standing, walking, lifting, and carrying of heavy objects may be required. Weekend and evening hours may be required.Duties are performed in a nursing home environment, including office, common areas and patient care areas. Direct interactions with patients may be extensive, leading to potential exposure to infectious disease or physical injury. Incumbents must be prepared to drive a vehicle in all types of weather.Minimum QualificationsNo specific education or experience required.Preferred QualificationsAt least one (1) year of experience as a custodian or housekeeper in a health care or other institutional setting.Total CompensationAs a State employee you are offered a great career opportunity, but it's more than a paycheck.
