Description We are hiring a Quality Engineer to support Steelcase Quality objectives and serve as the customer advocate in the total Supply Chain from our supply base through product development and manufacturing, to our customers.  What You Will Be Doing:
  • Support Steelcase Quality objectives and serve as the customer advocate in the total Supply Chain from our supply base through product development and manufacturing, to our customers.
  • Support FMEA based risk mitigation activities.
  • Design, install and evaluate manufacturing quality assurance systems, procedures, and statistical techniques.
  • Collaborating with cross functional Design & operations teams to accomplish functional objectives.
  • Project manage functional responsibilities with cross functional team
  • Design or specify inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment.
  • Analyze production and service processes and standards. Recommend revision of specifications when indicated.
  • Formulate or help formulate quality assurance policies and procedures.
  • Direct tactical Quality Assurance projects.
  • 10% travel required
Who you are: Required Skills and Competencies:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 4-6 years of experience in Quality Engineering or a technical field and must include experience with the following: application of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of quality engineering; project management skills to initiate and lead improvements of tactical nature; analyzing data to prioritize quality improvement opportunities based on financial benefits; develop technical solutions to a variety of problems using lean six sigma tools.
Preferred Skills and Competencies:
  • Able to effectively apply a complete understanding of quality engineering technical principles, concepts, practices, standards, and procedures of the quality engineering profession (e.g. ASQ certified Quality Engineer Body of Knowledge)
  • Able to develop technical solutions to a variety of complex problems of strategic scope.
  • Able to effectively make decisions in matters of significant to the customer experience.
  • Able to proactively apply originality to improvement of practices and procedures.
  • Able to effectively make decisions in matters of significance to the customer experience.
  • Must be able to effectively interface with multiple functions within the company and with people of all levels of management/technical ability.
  • Demonstrated project management skills with cross-functional teams; advanced facilitation skills.
  • Able to represent the company as a prime contact on technical projects.
  • Working knowledge of product testing requirements, product development cycle, and specials processes.
