About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team at McLean Hospital. As a key member of our Capital Construction and Repair & Maintenance teams, you will play a critical role in optimizing the efficiency of our campus infrastructure.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for collaborating with our teams to analyze data, troubleshoot issues, and develop solutions to improve our campus infrastructure. You will also be responsible for assessing our physical campus infrastructure against enterprise standards to ensure effective equipment operations and efficient utilities usage.

Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Analyzing short- and long-term capital needs of HVAC, controls, plumbing, electrical, and other systems
  • Working with our Space Planner and Capital Construction team to make recommendations to strategically reduce deferred maintenance
  • Providing in-house engineering and facilities operations expertise to assist in the selection of new systems and equipment
  • Reviewing all renovation projects with MEP/FP content to ensure they meet McLean's and MGB's standards of care
  • Maintaining current knowledge of standards and codes, including ASME, ANSI, MA Building Code, and NFPA

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you will need to have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in HVAC, plumbing, and/or fire protection, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting
  • Two years' experience leading work groups and/or two years' of construction project management
  • Prior project work or management experience in a large campus setting
  • At least two years' experience working with historical buildings
  • A Professional Engineer License (PE) within 6 months of hire
  • A valid Driver's License within the State of Massachusetts within 120 days of hire
