If you're ready to take your career to the next level and gain valuable experience, apply todayThe Dir, Payroll manages the entire payroll lifecycle including payroll operations and processing, payroll tax reporting and payroll auditing for all of the Company’s team members, clinicians, and independent contractors. This includes managing relationships with external auditors and state and federal agencies and mitigating risk for the organization. This role must be dedicated to accurate and timely processing of payroll, with problem resolution as needed, a passion and commitment to process improvement and with a strong customer service orientation. The Director will place emphasis on innovation through automation including AI and robotic processing, system enhancements and process improvements.ResponsibilitiesLead the short term and long term payroll strategy including design, implementation and maintenance of payroll systems and operational programs for flawless execution. Set up and maintain functional payroll systems, processes and procedures including taxes and finance demands regarding payroll payments.  Ensure systems and procedures are compliant with all payroll and tax laws and train existing team members on those regulations and best practices. Leads and demonstrates high standards of timely service and communication to team members and supported clinicians on payroll related inquiries including operational and executive leadershipAudits and analyzes payroll data for proper payroll accounting. Uses automated system to produce accurate and timely payroll. Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.Establish and maintain all payroll records including payroll journal entries, monthly and quarterly payroll tax returns and W-2's, archive and safeguard all payroll related files by calendar year.Influence operational and executive leadership to create alignment around payroll project business objectives, measurable benefits, success criteria, scope and constraints impacting project delivery.Works with systems team in developing reports for department heads, regional leadership, regulatory bodies, and responsible for leading a team in the delivery and accuracy of those reports. Stays up-to-date with labor legislation and any changes and tax regulations, notify leadership if changes impact PDS current practices.Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders such as IT, PMO office, Field Operations, Tax, and Accounting.Manages annual department budget and is responsible for all budget planning for the payroll department including managing vendor relationships.Hire, train, manage, and coach direct reports/department managers to ensure proficiency in all phases of their respective jobs and responsibilities to achieve goals and objectivesPerforms other duties as assigned by management or as may be necessary.QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Business or relate field, and 10+ years of managing Payroll in a multi-state, multi-location environment with 10K+ team members. In lieu of degree, 12+ years of experience is required.Experience managing an inhouse payroll operations teamPreferredCertified Payroll Professional (CPP).Experience in WorkdayExperience in a multi-regional healthcare, retail, or dental company.Experience in payroll for doctors, physicians, or clinicians.Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesAdvanced knowledge of payroll systems, laws and practices, knowledge and administration of sound techniques in all aspects of payroll; knowledge of the Company’s operations. Thorough knowledge of a wide variety of wage and salary administration. Have a sound working knowledge of the principles and practices of modern office management and recordkeeping, as well as statistical concepts, methods, and data collection procedures.This position requires significant knowledge of payroll administration, including state and federal regulations.Analytical skills to synthesize complex or diverse information. Creative research skills and ability to analyze data to arrive at valid conclusions, recommendations, and plans of action. Problem solving skills to gather & analyze information in order to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. Planning/organizing of effective prioritization skills, and uses time efficiently to develop realistic action plans.Strong “service provider” and “business partner” orientation.
