Position Summary: The Technical Specialist 1 will exemplify the following proficiencies:
• Managing the network infrastructure and the application servers supporting a physical security system.
• Analyzing and resolving complex network and system application issues.
• Assisting senior network engineersin identifying and resolving network and security related problems.
• Researching state-of-the-art technologies to support new system design and upgrades.
• Documenting network problems and resolution for future reference.
• Providing Tier 3 support to the system administration team.
• Programming and integrating an entire system at a global level.
• Utilizing advanced networking principles and system administration skills to troubleshoot networks and operating systems.
• Analyzing and modifying preventive maintenance checklists for system changes.
• Troubleshooting system performance issues and implementing corrective actions.
• Performing preventive maintenance actions including system back-ups, error log reviews, database integrity checks, and hardware health check.
• Organizing and preparing detailed documentation of system performance, including service request records and analysis.
• Performing desktop hardware and operating system setup, imaging software loading, and antivirus updates.
• Coordinating with field personnel and engineering team to address potential installation issues.
• Responding support calls to assist field personnel and system administrators with issues encountered on job sites.
• Documenting support calls in the internal support systems (IMMS); ensuring all tickets are addressed and closed.
• Conducting research and development on new system manufacturers (i.e
access control, intrusion detection and closed-circuit television systems).
• Communicating effectively with customers, manufacturers, vendors, and system administrators
Position / Candidate Requirement § Must pass customer background check after offer is extended
§ Ability to obtain a Public Trust § Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
§ Experience: 0-2 years with Bachelor's degree, 4-6 years with an Associate's degree, or 6-8 years with a High School Diploma
§ Requires experience in system administration which includes but not limited to triaging system problems, resolving issues, analyzing system data for preventive action, and implementing new workstations and system integrations
§ Requires reliable attendance at customer site during work hours
Desired / Advantageous Qualifications:
• Vendor certifications for electronic security systems.
• Knowledge of Software House C-CURE, Intellicene Symphia, or Key Systems equipment knowledge
• Experience with Microsoft Visio or CAD.
• Knowledge of Windows, Linux, MSSQL or other relational database system.
• Certified with Cisco CCNA, Comp TIA Security+ or equivalent technology certifications
Abilities
• Ability to sit and work in front of a computer screens for an extended period of time.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Ability to understand Standard of Operation (SOP) and Statement of Work (SOW) documentation.
• Strong listening and comprehension skills when communicating with internal and external customers.
• Proficiency in reading and understanding written information.
• Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce sensible and logical solutions.
