Duties * You will analyze engineered drawings to determine feasibility of manufacturing a part entirely or partially on computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools. * You will review previous programs to see if a program has already been created or if there is one similar in nature which can be adapted to current specifications. * You will add set up instructions and operation comments to the printed program to clarify to the machinist the intent of the machine parts program. * You will maintain and update programs and drawings to satisfy any design changes imposed by the engineering division. * You will guide and advise machinists, machine tool operators, and trainees on the safe and accurate operation of the program and various CNC machines. * You will provide input regarding the acquisition of new equipment to various stakeholders. * You will perform other duties as assigned. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. * You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. * Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs. * This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. Qualifications For Outside applicants (i.e., those without current or prior Federal competitive or excepted service): Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: * Experience applying engineering concepts, principles, and practices to develop methods and designs to produce continuous path and multi-axis programs. * Experience developing a Computer Aided Manufacturing package to facilitate all necessary tooling and technical direction to produce machined parts on computer numerical control (CNC) machines. * Experience anticipating and evaluating technical problems arising in the development and use of computer aided applications. * Experience communicating both orally and in writing to provide advice and guidance to lower-level technicians.
