Duties * You will serve as an Industrial Engineer under the Quality Assurance and Safety Office. * You will review technical data packages and make improvements. * You will implement configuration management procedures to ensure consistency of configurations throughout lifecycle. * You will conduct production audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance. * You will provide comprehensive technical support. * You will develop and maintain operation of quality control systems. * You will analyze operations (e.g., surface mount technology, automated optical inspection, AS9100 operations), design workflows, and production processes to reduce loss along the way, while still meeting customer needs. * You will work with department management and division management to maximize productivity and reduce wastefulness in the production process. Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes. * This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. Qualifications Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the DP-03 grade level or pay band (GS-9-11) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Communicating quality issues and negotiating their resolution in a potentially hostile environment; 2) Assisting in developing plans and presentations for assigned projects and create performance, training, and procedure documentation to support production; 3) Demonstrating experience in quality system standards (AS9100, ISO9001), including the identification of test/inspection requirements for material qualification (IPC, ANSI/ESD S20.20); 4) Working knowledge of quality assurance-control methods, principles, and practices including statistical analysis, sampling techniques, and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis in support of continuous process improvement; 5) Developing, creating processes-workflows, standard operating procedures, and developing new approaches and/or methodologies; 6) General knowledge of manufacturing processes and production drawings and specifications. Education Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: For 08XX series: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A (above)

Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications (https://www.ed.gov/). Therefore, provide only the attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
