The BMC2 Capabilities engineering organization is seeking Senior Software Engineers to join our software development team located onsite in St. Petersburg, FL.
Our teams develop software in a variety of languages, primarily C++. Candidates can expect to work on many—if not all—of the phases of the software development life cycle. In this position, you will be responsible for providing practical solutions to difficult technical software problems. Software Engineering positions include working on a variety of different tasks including real-time software development, application software development, test and verification, data analysis, software tools development, and many others. Teams are organized using Agile scrum methodology.
What You Will Do
- Participate in the requirements, design, development and testing of embedded software, including application, middleware, operating system and supporting tools, to include development of new work products or enhancement of existing applications and systems.
- Design, code, test, integrate, and document software solutions.
- Participate in internal review of software components and systems.
- Coaching, reviewing and delegating work to lower-level professionals.
- Follow established development practices and processes to maintain the configuration management of software products.
- Operate in a collaborative, SAFe agile environment.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Knowledge of data structures and algorithms, systems software design, operating systems, architectures, software development life cycle and processes.
- Experience with C/C++ and Object-oriented software design.
- Experience using git for source control and familiarity with a Linux-based development environment.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
- Active and transferable U.S. government DoD issued Interim Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
- U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret US security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Active Secret or Top-Secret Clearance is preferred.
- Experience developing software in a team-based development environment, preferably Agile/SCRUM, DevSecOps and test automation.
- Experience in prior leadership roles such as a Scrum Master, Product Owner or equivalent.
- Experience working with large, complex software systems and refactoring legacy code.
- Experience writing software for and debugging issues in real-time multithreaded software applications.
- Experience designing and documenting software architecture.
- Familiarity with IP networking, including socket programming, network analysis (Wireshark), network routing, and virtual LANs (VLANs).
- Experience with secure coding practices.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills, including ability to produce technical documentation, and the desire to learn new technologies and tools.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with coworkers from diverse communities and cultures.
- Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
