Senior Electrical Designer Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Designer to provide technical and design services in support of power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and telecommunication systems for design projects as part of a multi-discipline project team to produce electrical design/construction drawings and specifications for institutional, commercial and industrial facilities.

Senior Electrical Designer Responsibilities

  • Complete design tasks within budget and on schedule and communicating with Project Manager, Sr. Electrical Engineer and design team to complete work efficiently.
  • Develop detailed electrical designs, drawings, and specifications for commercial, industrial, and municipal projects.
  • Conduct site visits to gather information and ensure accurate designs.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to understand project requirements and provide technical guidance.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and client requirements.
  • Prepare and review electrical plans, schematics, and diagrams using CAD software.
  • Perform electrical calculations, including load analysis, circuit sizing, and voltage drop.
  • Oversee and mentor junior designers and drafters, providing technical support and guidance.
  • Participate in project meetings and presentations, representing the electrical design team.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines (mechanical, civil, structural) to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals and cost estimates.

Senior Electrical Designer Position Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in drafting and a Vocational certificate or two year degree in Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience using Autocad and/or Revit software 
  • More process than results-oriented individual with strong visual and technical skills.
  • Enjoys working alone when required but can work effectively on a project team.
  • Must maintain a high level of precision and accuracy and be methodical in approach to work.
