Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Power BI Developer with a strong background in data engineering for a contract position with the potential to hire. The ideal candidate will have at least 5-6 years of experience working with Power BI, along with a minimum of 8 years of total IT experience. This role requires a professional who is passionate about self-driven research and enjoys working closely with clients, project managers, data architects, and IT leaders. Consulting experience is highly preferred, as the role will involve significant client interaction and the ability to provide expert advice and solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Power BI Development: Design, develop, and implement advanced Power BI solutions, including dashboards, reports, and data visualizations, to meet client requirements.
- Data Engineering: Collaborate with data architects and engineers to design and optimize data models, ETL processes, and data integration strategies that support Power BI solutions.
- Client Engagement: Work closely with clients to understand their business needs and translate those needs into technical requirements, ensuring that all Power BI solutions are aligned with their objectives.
- Research and Innovation: Conduct self-guided research on new Power BI features, data engineering tools, and industry trends to continuously enhance the quality and performance of our solutions.
- Consulting Expertise: Provide expert guidance and best practices to clients on data visualization, Power BI, and data engineering, helping them maximize the value of their data.
- Collaboration: Work with internal project managers, data architects, and IT leaders to ensure the successful delivery of projects, maintaining clear communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
- Training and Support: Provide training and support to clients and internal teams on the use and maintenance of Power BI solutions, ensuring they can fully leverage the tools and solutions provided.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Power BI Expertise: 5-6 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI, including report creation, dashboard design, DAX, Power Query, and data visualization best practices.
- Data Engineering Skills: Strong experience in data engineering, including ETL processes, data modeling, data warehousing, and integrating data from multiple sources.
- IT Experience: At least 8 years of total IT experience, with a focus on data analytics, business intelligence, or related fields.
- Consulting Experience: Previous experience working in a consulting role, preferably within an IT or data-focused organization.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL, Python, or other data-related programming languages. Experience with Azure Data Services, including Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Synapse Analytics, is a plus.
- Client Interaction: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, understand their needs, and deliver tailored solutions.
- Research and Innovation: A strong desire to stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in Power BI and data engineering.
- Collaboration: Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, with a focus on achieving shared goals and delivering high-quality results.
Contract Details:
- Hours: Approximately 15-20 hours per week.
- Work Schedule: Must be available to work after normal business hours, with the flexibility to attend short meetings with our team during normal business hours with at least 2 hours notice.
- Potential to Hire: This contract role has the potential to transition into a full-time position based on performance and project needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications: Microsoft Power BI Certification and/or other relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer, Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate).
- Project Management: Familiarity with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum) and tools (e.g., Jira, Trello).
- Industry Experience: Experience working with clients in diverse industries such as finance, healthcare, or retail.
