Position Description:


Our client is hiring for a mid-level Systems Engineer and this position will be responsible for maintaining, administering, and operating servers and data center infrastructure for them.


Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining, administering, and operating servers and data center infrastructure for our client.
  • Analyze and resolve first and second-level problems with the local area network Windows servers and resident 3rd-party vendor software.
  • Assist management in preparing strategic plans for server stability, growth, and capacity planning.
  • Participate in after-hours upgrades, troubleshooting, and/or on-call availability as needed.
  • Manage maintenance outages to ensure 24/7 availability.
  • Provide metrics and reports as needed.
  • Evaluate and propose software and hardware alternatives.
  • Schedule upgrades, system design, and backups.
  • Maintain compliance (including Sarbanes Oxley) documentation, project planning, test data, and testing plans.
  • Adhere to all corporate policies and procedures in accordance with industry best practices.
  • Provide hands-on coverage and backup where necessary to ensure stability, and project completion.
  • Oversee and coordinate upkeep of company servers and related hardware components. This includes installation, configuration, management, troubleshooting, system health monitoring, performance analysis, firmware upgrade maintenance, and warranty repair coordination.
  • Work in tandem with Information Security team to implement vulnerability management.
  • Support disaster recovery testing per current standards.
  • Install and configure operating systems (Windows and ESXi), 3rd-party software (backup, Citrix).
  • Configure and monitor health of Active Directory and Azure Active Directory

Skills and Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of servers and systems experience.
  • Expert knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure, Microsoft Exchange, VMware, Citrix, Veeam, patching, server hardware, data center management.
  • Knowledge of user administration, networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), cybersecurity, Microsoft Office suite, email security/archiving (Proofpoint/Mimecast).
  • Must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of cloud technologies, specifically Microsoft Azure, Azure Active Directory, Exchange Online, and Azure Virtual Machines.

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university in Information Technology or Computer Science.
