Position Overview

Role Summary
The Senior Packaging Systems Project Engineer is responsible for leading comprehensive engineering projects from conception through to implementation, with a primary focus on packaging systems.

This position demands a deep understanding of both current and innovative packaging machinery trends, spanning from primary packaging processes to palletizing solutions, all within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

The engineer will work closely with clients, machinery suppliers, and material providers to enhance product performance while ensuring adherence to company policies and strategic objectives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee large-scale capital projects, including defining project scope, timelines, and financial plans.
  • Engage with stakeholders and clients to ensure project alignment.
  • Create detailed work scope documents and manage the competitive bidding process.
  • Supervise contractor installations to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
  • Facilitate startup processes and ensure project deliverables are met.
  • Champion safety and quality initiatives throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Uphold the company’s core values and operational standards.

Technical Skill Requirements:
  • Proficiency in Vertical Form Fill Seal (VFFS), Horizontal Form Fill Seal (HFFS), and flow wrapping technologies.
  • Knowledge of secondary packaging automation, including case packing and palletizing systems.
  • Understanding of the interplay between packaging materials and equipment.
  • Capability to approve packaging die lines and design production lines aimed at optimizing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Familiarity with cleaning methodologies for packaging machinery.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in food packaging engineering and safety.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing projects with budgets ranging from $100K to over $5MM.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary and collaborate effectively across various organizational levels.
  • Bilingual capabilities are preferred.
