Responsibilities

The Buyer position is part of the Supply Chain Team. This is a full-time, exempt position. This position will require a broad range of responsibilities to ensure success. Some examples of these responsibilities are listed below (but are not limited to the following):

  • Plan material purchases according to supplier lead times to support the production schedule and forecasted sales volumes.
  • Negotiate best possible acquisition cost, payment terms, delivery schedules, and other purchase parameters with suppliers to maximize value creation within the supply network.
  • Continuously monitor supplier performance for key metrics such as on time delivery, quality, and cost containment/reduction while working with suppliers to make necessary improvements.
  • Collaborate closely with the Production Planning team to identify potential shortages or delays for purchased components to proactively engage with suppliers and expedite accordingly.
  • Follow up on past due supplier orders and manage the integrity of promised delivery dates while holding suppliers accountable for communicating purchase order fulfillment dates.
  • Work with Engineering as needed to identify substitutes in the case of part shortages to maintain the production schedule with minimal disruption.
  • Convert internal expense requisitions into purchase orders with suppliers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or related field preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in product management, purchasing, or planning.
  • Supply chain certifications such as CPIM or CSCP a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, self-motivated, and self-starter.
  • Great organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Exceptional judgment and critical thinking skills.
