Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Tactical Buyer/Planner to join our team and provide key support in a number of areas. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operations. You will wear multiple hats (and never get bored), handling areas such as production planning, procurement, ME/quality control support, and business administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

Production Planning & Customer Support:

  • Collaborate with production team to understand upcoming projects and jobs, material requirements, and deadlines.
  • Develop and maintain production schedules with team to optimize machine utilization and meet delivery targets. Oversee expedites as needed.
  • Oversee NPI projects from order entry through delivery.
  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, tools, and consumables to prevent stockouts and maintain efficient workflow.
  • Identify potential bottlenecks and propose solutions for improved production flow.
  • Manage customer support dashboard and prepare customer flash reports. Provide updates for customers and answer inquires as required.
  • Coordinate shipping of orders as required with paperwork and logistics.

Procurement & Purchasing:

  • Source and negotiate with vendors to secure materials and outside processing at competitive prices while ensuring quality meets our standards.
  • Find new vendors as backups or to challenge primary vendors on price and performance.
  • Issue purchase orders according to company procedures and track order statuses.
  • Expedite deliveries when necessary and resolve discrepancies with vendors.

Administrative Support:

  • Maintain accurate production documentation and records within the company's ERP and knowledge system including work instructions, standard work, and visual aids. Keep documentation updated and help develop for new parts and processes.
  • Generate reports on production performance metrics like output, lead times, and costs.
  • Support AR/AP activity with standard processes.
  • General office coordination and support.
  • Handle general administrative tasks such as managing purchase orders, invoices, and filing.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing and/or machining environment preferred. Should have basic technical knowledge at minimum of machining equipment, tooling, gauges, and shop workflow. Major plus if hands on machining or QC experience.
  • Associate's degree in a related field (e.g., Manufacturing Technology, Supply Chain Management, Business) or equivalent experience. Pursuing degree is a plus. Desire to grow into management roles a positive and preferred.
  • Strong understanding of production planning principles and scheduling techniques. Strong in project management a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems a plus. Should be digital savvy and able to pick up software and systems quickly to become a power user. Ability to develop queries and use no code tools a major plus.
  • Magnificent multi-tasker - excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills. Ability to build plans, rally team and direct others as well as be a team player.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various departments. Stays positive and communicates well in any situation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Role can be part time or full time depending on candidate and needs.
