Mid-Level IT Desktop Support Technician
Summary of Position:
The Desktop Support Technician will support PC-based computers and related equipment for our customers. This role requires technical expertise, experience, documentation skills, and project coordination to install or repair hardware/software and resolve technical issues.
This is a contract role with a duration of 1 year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair hardware and software issues on client PCs and mobile devices using approved methods and processes.
- Enroll devices and push applications using Microsoft Intune; general knowledge of Intune setup and management is essential.
- Install and configure desktop imaging and upgrade systems from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
- Install hardware and software for clients, including setting up docking stations and conference room projectors.
- Work with vendors to repair printers.
- Provide Office 365 support to end-users.
- Complete necessary internal and client-related documentation on a daily basis.
- Train clients on basic computer knowledge.
- Communicate and interact with end-users and internal staff to resolve IT-related issues.
- Interpret and communicate complex information to diverse internal and external customers.
- Work effectively in both team environments and individually.
- Oversee ticket aging.
- Maintain a positive and proactive attitude, always keeping the customer’s best interest in mind.
Qualification / Requirements:
- Intermediate knowledge of PC desktop support and local/network printer support.
- Basic knowledge of Networking and Windows-based servers.
- Prior experience in customer service.
- Basic knowledge of a ticket-based tracking system.
- Experience with desktop imaging, troubleshooting Windows 10, and upgrading to Windows 11.
- Knowledge of setting up docking stations and conference rooms, including projectors.
- Ability to work with vendors for printer repairs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Availability to work some nights and weekends as necessary.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Education / Training / Experience:
- Required:
- 2-3 years of experience with Windows 10 and PC re-imaging.
- 2-3 years of experience with PC and laptop hardware.
- A+ Certification.
- Preferred:
- ITILv3 certification.
- Certifications: Server+, Network+, Microsoft MCP/MCSA/MCSE, Dell Hardware, HP Hardware, IBM/Lenovo Hardware.
- Associate Degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field.
