GENERAL SUMMARY

Reviews permit applications and associated plans submitted for construction within COH jurisdiction

for compliance with adopted construction codes and standards. Consults with project design teams

during project planning and design and makes recommendations to ensure project’s code

compliance with the allocated discipline.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Performs plumbing code/plan reviews for construction projects to ensure conformance with the

adopted Uniform Plumbing Codes, including City of Houston amendments, and any applicable

construction standards within the specified discipline.

2. Records and documents reviews/code deficiency comments within permit tracking software;

issues deficiency reports and monitors remedial work; records re-reviews, ensures correction of

all deficiencies and issues rejections and approvals based on findings.

3. Provides technical assistance as it relates to code interpretation and conformance,

constructability, and quality assurance at each project phase from design through final

approval/permit issuance.

4. Explain and interprets regulations, guidelines, standards, and criteria to design professionals,

contractors, tenants, and other interested parties.

5. Attends comment meetings as required and reports problems and projects status to supervisor.

6. Perform other duties as assigned.

7. Review design drawings, construction documents and project specifications for compliance with

construction codes, design criteria and government regulations.


Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

1. Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction technology or construction

management.

2. Five (5) years’ experience in construction document plan review and inspection of building

systems.

3. Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.

4. Current State of Texas Plumbing Inspectors license issued by the Texas State Board of

Plumbing Examiners.

5. Ability to detect and correct non-complying items during plan review.

6. Knowledge of local, state, and national codes and regulations relating to major public works

development.

7. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

8. Outstanding customer service skills and timely communication.

9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

10. Ability to create modest to complex documents, tools, and project databases, including data

input, file management and report generating.


Working Conditions

1. Remote work environment.

2. Uses company issued equipment such as laptop, screens, headsets and associated

accessories.

3. Exchanges information by telephone, email and written documents.

DESIRED

1. Certifications from the International Code Council (ICC) in the discipline assigned to for plans

examination and Inspections.

2. Additional Certifications from the International Code Council (ICC) are a plus.
