Job Title: Project Manager (Banking)

Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid - 3 Days on-site)

Duration: 6 Months (Possibility of Extension or Conversion to FTE)


Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager III with a strong background in Agile methodologies and excellent client communication skills for government projects within the Issuer Services Engineering sector. The ideal candidate should be adept at managing complex projects and have a proven track record in the financial industry or mortgage-backed securities domain.


Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Scheduling:

  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and client communication strategies.
  • Ensure adherence to project timelines and proactively identify risks and issues.
  • Client Communication and Reporting:
  • Present project deliverables, products, or processes effectively to clients.
  • Create and deliver comprehensive daily and weekly reports to internal and external teams.
  • Budget and Resource Management:
  • Manage project budgets, resources, and requirements effectively.
  • Facilitate team iteration processes, ensure stakeholder communication, and protect the team from unplanned work changes.


Project Disputes and Issue Resolution:

  • Address and resolve project disputes, adapting to evolving business needs to maintain operational efficiency.


Tools and Metrics:

  • Use Excel to create high-level reports with graphs and macros.
  • Utilize JIRA for managing various project aspects, including basic metrics such as automation test execution and defect metrics by test phase.
  • Use Microsoft Project for creating and maintaining project plans (Gantt charts).


Collaboration and Continuous Improvement:

  • Work with team leaders to resolve open issues and remove obstacles to project progress.
  • Conduct post-project reviews and root cause analyses to improve team performance and reduce defect leakage.


Agile Environment Management:

  • Conduct Agile ceremonies and ensure team adherence to Agile practices.


Required Skills/Experience:

  • Project Management: 8+ years of experience.
  • Domain Expertise: Experience in Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS).
  • Agile and Waterfall Methodologies: Proficiency in working with both environments.
  • Tools: Hands-on experience with JIRA and MS Office Suite.
  • Experience in the financial services industry.
  • Education/Certification Requirements:
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in business management or a related discipline (or equivalent work experience).
  • Preferred: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.


This role is ideal for a skilled project manager with a solid background in financial services or MBS and who is comfortable working in a hybrid environment, managing government projects, and using project management tools like JIRA and MS Project effectively.
