Accounting Manager Location: Baltimore, MD (Onsite - 5 days per week, with occasional remote flexibility) Compensation: $115,000 annually (plus bonus potential; some flexibility based on experience) Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent Overview A rapidly expanding real estate investment and development firm is seeking a Portfolio Accounting Manager to join its growing accounting organization. This newly created role is part of a recent departmental restructure that established four distinct areas: Property Accounting, Development Accounting, Portfolio Accounting, and Operations Accounting. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment where accounting meets strategic business operations. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in accounting, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with both internal stakeholders and external investors. Key Responsibilities Manage and oversee portfolio-level accounting across a wide range of entities and joint ventures. Review and consolidate property-level accounting to ensure accuracy and compliance with company standards. Act as a liaison between property accountants and the Portfolio Controller, providing feedback and guidance on accounting practices. Coordinate and oversee audits, including preparation and management of PBC (Prepared By Client) lists. Collaborate closely with asset managers and investors to track deliverables and ensure timely joint venture reporting. Review agreements and financial data to ensure accurate accounting treatment and reporting. Mentor and support a Senior Portfolio Accountant, providing leadership and developmental feedback. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting required. CPA or active progress toward CPA preferred. 5+ years of relevant accounting experience; exposure to public accounting strongly preferred. Prior supervisory or mentorship experience required. Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting principles. Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
