The Continuous Improvement Manager brings to life the CI vision cascaded through each business unit. Coaches and Mentors employees on lean methodology, tools, root-cause analysis, and waste reduction to achieve sustainable and continued improvements in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, cost, and growth. Coordinates training and development of all team members.
Essential Functions:

- Leads the Continuous Improvement process (e.g. mindsets, practices and culture), working with staff and leadership to develop, implement and sustain a CI program based upon Lean principles that support meeting plant performance targets and financial goals.
- Leads, identifies and defines the scope of Continuous Improvement projects and activities.
- Primary owner in leading and/or coordinating Continuous Improvement activities.
- Leverages data and observational analysis to identify improvement opportunities and works closely with technical resources to help drive efficiencies and identify best practices.
- Teaches and models root cause analysis and structured problem-solving to eliminate inefficiencies, recurring issues and waste of all types. Viewed as an expert in these areas.
- Participates in Lean events with other CI resources to apply CI methodologies and promote skill transfer.
- Coaches, guides and/or leads cross-functional teams to achieve resolution of assigned projects.
- Leads focused efforts aimed at breakthrough and incremental improvements in process, department and/or line-specific opportunities that meet and exceed plant operational performance metrics.
- Monitor data and metric trends to identify areas of waste and prioritize the development and implementation of solutions.
- Provide appropriate documentation and project update communication to Operations leadership.
- Effectively collaborates with all departments and individuals affected by CI projects.
- Other duties can be assigned based on company needs and employee capabilities.

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. At times, due to projects or work assignments, employee will need to coordinate and direct a team to meet/satisfy individual/company objectives.
Work Environment:
This role operates in a professional office environment. There is a separate on-site Engineering Lab area where the use of specialized testing and measuring equipment is often required.
Physical Demands:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times (occasionally).
Utilizing engineering test and inspection equipment requires some dexterity and flexibility.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM. To meet our customer demands and internal objectives, at times this role will be required to work outside of the normal schedule, including weekends.
Travel:
15% domestic travel is anticipated, but occasional international may also be required.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree similar from an accredited university.
Minimum of three years of relevant experience.
Minimum of three years of experience within a manufacturing operation leading lean and continuous improvement efforts
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering).
Certified Lean Practitioner or Certified Six Sigma Black Belt.
Working knowledge of Toyota Lean Principles (TPS).
