  • Identify APIs and associated services that need to be migrated to Kong based on criteria such as business criticality, traffic volume, and strategic importance.
  • Develop a detailed migration plan with timelines, milestones, resource requirements, and risk assessment.
  • Set up Kong infrastructure including deployment architecture, clustering, and scaling considerations.
  • Configure Kong Gateway with plugins (OAuth, JWT, rate limiting, logging, etc.) to replicate or enhance existing functionality from Apigee.
  • Define API routes, endpoints, transformations, and policies in Kong Gateway to mirror Apigee configurations.
  • Migrate API configurations, settings, and metadata from Apigee to Kong Gateway.
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency during the migration process, handling versioning and backward compatibility issues as necessary.
  • Transfer any necessary data such as developer keys, access tokens, and OAuth credentials to Kong.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing of migrated APIs on Kong Gateway to validate functionality, performance, and security.
  • Validate API responses and behavior against expected outcomes, ensuring compatibility with existing client applications.
