The Quality Specialist is responsible for developing and administering policies and procedures for evaluating and improving the quality of products, materials, components and manufacturing processes. Makes recommendations to ensure production meets quality standards and that employees are following established procedures. Develops a long-term quality strategy and Quality Management System (QMS). Promotes quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization.


POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborates with the management team to successfully implement the internal Quality Management System and drives a culture towards achieving both Quality and Key Performance Indicator goals.
  • Plans, promotes and organizes activities related to improving the quality and reliability of products and in-house operations. Leads teams in the quality process approach, successful problem resolution and continuous improvement projects.
  • Manages the development and implementation goals, objectives, policies, procedures and systems that support best quality assurance and quality control practices.
  • Develops, implements and maintains quality performance dashboards and other performance reports. Works with managers to develop quality performance standards.
  • Investigates and addresses customer, supplier, and internal complaints regarding quality.
  • Leads all Quality-related employee communications and training requirements.
  • Facilitates the Quality Management Review process.
  • Performs internal audits to confirm effectiveness of QMS.
  • Regularly reviews and updates current work instruction manuals and creates new instructions as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Quality Control or Quality Assurance. In lieu of a degree, equivalent combination of education and/or experience considered.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with a combination of QMS, Project Management, and/or quality control preferred.
  • Background in designing and implementing Quality Assurance programs, corrective and preventive action and in the development and management of procedures and work instructions that document and support operational requirements.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures and government regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a cross-functional environment and proven ability to influence and build consensus among multiple functions.
  • Above average ability in problem identification, analysis and creative resolution.
  • Proven process development and project management skills.
  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite of programs.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of administering and maintaining ISO9001:2015 standard a plus.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

There is a minimal risk of injury. Work hours are generally 40 hours a week during normal business hours. May require some additional hours as needed. Some business travel may be required up to 25%.
