We are seeking an HR Generalist & Legal Assistant to assist in development and execution of HR initiatives and to provide support to the Chief Legal Officer. HR responsibilities will include Talent Acquisition, Performance Management, Policy Development, Benefits, Learning and Development, and HR Information Systems. Legal Assistant responsibilities will include contract lifecycle management, IP maintenance, entity management, and document preparation.


The position is located in our headquarters in Chicago, IL, and will report to the Chief People Officer & Chief Legal Officer.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

As the firm continues to grow quickly, the ideal candidate will possess a tremendous amount of flexibility and resourcefulness regarding traditional duties and responsibilities. The work will continue to change; however, the following functions will form the foundation of the position.

·      Performing talent acquisition responsibilities including assisting managers with preparation of job descriptions, posting positions, sourcing candidates, reviewing applicants’ skills and work history, scheduling interviews, and obtaining candidate feedback from interviewers

·      Assisting in development of performance management plans including goal setting and performance appraisals and partnering with managers to execute such plans

·      Participating in annual benefits renewal process, review and implementation of new benefit programs, and assisting employees with questions regarding their benefits

·      Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations and drafting and enforcing HR policies compliant with such laws and regulations

·      Assisting in creation of learning and development programs and partnering with managers to tailor to their teams

·      Conducting audits to ensure accuracy of HR and payroll data and documentation

·      Overseeing execution, storage, tracking of key dates and terms, and follow up on expiring or auto-renewing contracts

·      Tracking status of patent and trademark searches, applications, registrations, and renewals and ensuring deadlines are met

·      Tracking entity status and completing annual reports

·      Preparing corporate documents and contracts from templates

·      Other duties as assigned



Qualifications:

·      Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations

·      Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills

·      Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities

·      Ability to confidentially manage HR related information and demonstrate ethical and professional conduct at all times

·      Bachelor’s degree in human resources or equivalent experience

·      3 years’ HR experience

·      Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

·      Aptitude for problem-solving
